FAQ (International Repatriation)

What is the approximate cost of international repatriation? The cost of repatriating remains is influenced by various factors. These include, but are not limited to, the destination (distance), the mode of transport (air or land), the weight of the remains (which affects airfreight charges), and relevant fees required by the local government authorities of the destination country.

What documents are required for exporting human remains? Generally, the following documents are required:

  • Certificate of Registration of Death (Death Certificate).

  • Embalming Certificate (issued by a licensed embalmer).

  • Certificate of Sealing (confirming the casket has been hermetically sealed).

  • Authorization Documents issued by the relevant Consulate (if applicable).

  • Import Permit / Acceptance Permission from the receiving country.

The Paradise team will assist families in applying for all necessary documents from relevant departments (such as the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department and Consulates) to ensure the smooth export and transport of the remains.

What is the first step the family should take after a loved one passes away? If a loved one passes away in Hong Kong and the remains need to be transported abroad, please remain calm and contact a professional repatriation service provider immediately. We will immediately guide the family to retain the deceased's passport and identification documents. Paradise will then take over communication with the hospital and relevant authorities to initiate the international repatriation process.
