[Continuously updated] 2025 Ching Ming Festival Hong Kong Cemeteries + Columbaria Latest Transportation Arrangements

As the Ching Ming Festival is approaching, many members of the public will pay tribute to their ancestors in cemeteries or columbaria where their dead bodies are buried to express their filial piety and remembrance of their ancestors. On the day of Ching Ming Festival, a large number of filial sons and daughters pay tribute to their ancestors at cemeteries or columbaria. In order to avoid overcrowding, many people choose to pay tribute to their ancestors at cemeteries or columbaria on the weekends before and after the main day of Ching Ming Festival. To cope with the anticipated patronage, cemeteries and columbaria will implement special opening arrangements during the peak period of the Ching Ming Festival, and the Government will also implement special Ching Ming Festival traffic arrangements. Tsang Tsui Columbarium|Special Arrangement for Transportation and Treasure Furnace at Ching Ming Festival 2025

Tsang Tsui Columbarium will implement the following special arrangements for traffic and transportation and the use of the cremation furnace during the 2025 Ching Ming Festival:


Special Arrangements for Traffic and Transportation during the 2025 Ching Ming Festival

During the 2025 Ching Ming Festival, the Government will close the main roads to and from Tsang Tsui Columbarium on March 15-16, March 22-23, March 29-30, April 4-6 and April 12-13 to cope with the peak flow of ancestor worshippers to Tsang Tsui Columbarium, and the section of Nim Wan Road between Yung Long Road and the Tsang Tsui Columbarium will be closed from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on the above dates. During the closure of the above road section, except franchised buses and MTR buses, cabs, vehicles authorized to travel between the West New Territories Landfill and the Lam‧District and Yuen‧Area, as well as all kinds of vehicles holding permits issued by the Commissioner for Transport, all other vehicles will be prohibited from entering the above road section; and as in the past, members of the public wishing to drive to the Tsang Tsui Columbarium on their own are required to register with the FEHD at their own address 1 to 14 days prior to the date of their visit. -As in the past, members of the public who wish to drive to the Tsang Tsui Columbarium on their own outside the above dates are required to make an appointment for registration on the website of the FEHD 1 to 14 days before their visit.



Arrangements for the crematorium at Tsang Tsui Columbarium during the Ching Ming Festival in 2025

As the number of ancestor worshippers during the Ching Ming Festival is expected to be higher than normal and the waiting time for the cremation furnace will be longer, there will be no on-site queuing for the cremation furnace at the Tsang Tsui Columbarium during the peak period of the Ching Ming Festival in 2025. If you wish to use the cremation furnace facilities during Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays from 1 March to 27 April 2025, you may first make an appointment at the “Cremation Furnace Arrangement at Tsang Tsui Columbarium” on the website of the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department. If you wish to use the crematorium facilities on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays from 1 March to 27 April 2025, you may first register for the crematorium facilities through the “Online Booking System for the Crematorium at Tsang Tsui Columbarium” on the FEHD website, or pick up the chips on the ground floor of the Columbarium on the day of your visit in order to use the crematorium facilities at the service. If you have not made a reservation for the use of the cremation furnace, or if you cannot obtain a fund-raising number, you may use the cremation clothes and bags service provided by the columbarium, and hand over your clothes and bags to the “Cremation Clothes and Bags Collection Area” located on the ground floor of the columbarium and in the East Wing of the first floor, and the staff of the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department will arrange to cremate your clothes and bags on behalf of you on the day of your visit, so as to facilitate the public to plan for the day of the memorial service, and to save the time of queuing for the cremation service. This is convenient for the public to plan their itinerary on the day of ancestor worship and saves them from queuing for cremation.

Wo Hop Shek Cemetery|Special Traffic and Transportation Arrangement for Ching Ming Festival 2025

During the Ching Ming Festival in 2025, the Government anticipates that special traffic and transportation arrangements will be implemented in the vicinity of the Wo Hop Shek Cemetery in order to ease the flow of filial piety and filial piety during the peak period of ancestor worship during the Ching Ming Festival. From March 22-23, March 29-30, April 4 (Ching Ming Festival day), April 5-6 and April 12-13, 2025, the following special traffic arrangements will be implemented:






Road Closure: Kiu Tau Road, Ming Yin Road, Wo Ka House Road and all access roads within the Wo Hop Shek Cemetery will be closed to all vehicles except those which have obtained permission such as hearse, coaches carrying family members, undertakers' vehicles, etc. The road closure timetable for Wo Hop Shek in 2025 will be between 6:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. on the above dates.

  • Traffic Diversion: On the above date, all vehicles traveling along Pak Wo Road northbound near Pong Ying Sin Kwan will not be allowed to turn right into Pak Wo Road southbound; and all vehicles traveling along Pak Wo Road southbound near MTR Fanling Station will not be allowed to turn right into the parking lot on Pak Wo Road near Pong Ying Sin Kwan.

  • Suspension of Parking Spaces for Certain Vehicles: During the peak period of the above Ching Ming Festival, except for cabs and some residents' buses, parking spaces at the parking lot on Wo Hing Road near Wah Ming Road Roundabout and the car park on Pak Wo Road near Pong Ying Sin Kwan are temporarily suspended from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm every day; and parking spaces at Wah Ming Lane are not permitted from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm during the abovementioned period.

FEHD Exempted Public Columbaria|Special Arrangements for Opening Hours and Transportation during Ching Ming Festival 2025


食環署2025清明節交通安排

During the peak period of Ching Ming Festival in 2025, the opening hours of the columbaria managed by the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department, such as Cape Collinson Columbarium, Diamond Hill Columbarium, Wo Hop Shek Columbarium and Kwai Chung Columbarium, are expected to be adjusted to allow filial piety and grandchildren to go there to pay respect to the deceased and to divert the influx of people paying tribute to their ancestors which is expected to increase. In addition, it is expected that the Government will implement special traffic arrangements during the peak period of the Ching Ming Festival in 2025, e.g. all vehicles, except for certain permitted vehicles, will not be allowed to enter the area of the public columbarium. Chinese Permanent Cemetery|Special Traffic Measures for Ching Ming Festival 2025


The following special traffic arrangements will be implemented during the 2025 Ching Ming Festival in the four Chinese Permanent Cemeteries administered by Wah Wing Association:


Chai Wan Chinese Permanent Cemetery 2025 Ching Ming Festival Traffic Arrangements

The following special traffic arrangements will be implemented at the Chai Wan Chinese Permanent Cemetery during the Ching Ming Festival in 2025:


Closed Area: Cape Collinson Road east of Lin Shing Road near the Chai Wan Chinese Permanent Cemetery will be designated as a closed area from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. from March 8-21, March 24-28, March 31, April 1-3, April 7-11, and April 14-27; all private cars and vans, except cabs and 18M minibuses, and holders of permits approved by Transport Department will not be allowed to enter the area of the Closed Area during these periods; furthermore, on the above dates and days, all private cars and vans will not be allowed to enter the area of the Closed Area. All private cars and van-type light buses, except taxis and 18M light buses, and permit holders approved by TD, will be prohibited from entering the Closed Area; in addition, all vehicles will be prohibited from parking in the Closed Area during the above dates and times.


Road Closure: The following is the schedule of road closure for the Ching Ming Festival in 2025. On 22-23 March, 29-30 March, 5-6 April and 12-13 April 2025, Colinson's Corner Road to the east of Lin Shing Road near the Chai Wan Chinese Permanent Cemetery and the inner carriageway of the Chai Wan Cemetery will be closed to vehicular traffic between 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. only cabs, emergency vehicles, registered hearse cars and funeral vehicles are allowed to enter the Closed Area. From 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on the above dates, only taxis, emergency vehicles, registered hearse and funeral vehicles, or any vehicle with a Transport Department permit may enter the road closure area (but not stay in the road closure area); In addition, 18M minibuses running between Chai Wan MTR Station and Chai Wan Chinese Permanent Cemetery may enter Cape Collinson Road during the abovementioned dates and hours, but may not enter the cemetery area.


Full road closure: On the day of Ching Ming Festival (April 4), Cape Collinson Road east of Lin Shing Road and the inner carriageway of the Chai Wan Cemetery will be closed to all traffic except emergency vehicles during the road closure period. Cape Collinson Road east of Lin Shing Road will be closed from 7am to 5pm, while the carriageway inside the Chai Wan Chinese Permanent Cemetery will be closed on April 4 for the whole day.

Tseung Kwan O Chinese Permanent Cemetery 2025 Ching Ming Festival Traffic Arrangement

The following are the special traffic arrangements to be implemented at the Tseung Kwan O Chinese Permanent Cemetery during the Ching Ming Festival in 2025:

Road Closure: The following is the schedule of road closure for the Ching Ming Festival in 2025. On March 9, March 15-16, March 22-23, March 29, April 5, April 12-13, April 18-21, April 26-27, and May 1, 2025, the road closure will be implemented at Yau Tong Ko Chiu Road near the Tseung Kwan O Chinese Permanent Cemetery, the Uphill Carriageway of Tseung Kwan O Cemetery, and the Inside Carriageway of Tseung Kwan O Cemetery from 5:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on the above dates, except for the road closure from 5:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on the above dates. Road closure will be implemented on the inner carriageway of the Tseung Kwan O Cemetery. From 5:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on the abovementioned dates, except for Bus Route 14S running to and from the Tseung Kwan O Chinese Permanent Cemetery, only cabs, emergency vehicles, registered hearses and funeral vehicles, or any vehicles issued with a permit by the Transport Department will be allowed to drive into the road closure area (but will not be allowed to stay in the road closure area).


Total Road Closure: On March 30, Ching Ming Festival day (April 4) and April 6, Yau Tong High Road, Tseung Kwan O Cemetery Uphill Drive and Tseung Kwan O Cemetery Inside Drive will be completely closed to all vehicles except emergency vehicles during the road closure period; in view of the road closure and other special traffic arrangements for the Ching Ming Festival, there will not be any bus service to and from the Tseung Kwan O Chinese Permanent Cemetery that day. In view of the special traffic arrangements for the Ching Ming Festival, no bus service will be provided to the Tseung Kwan O Chinese Permanent Cemetery on that day. Tomb-sweepers may choose to depart from the Tiu Keng Leng MTR Station and enter the “Wah Wing Path” via Tong Yin Street, or walk to the Tseung Kwan O Chinese Permanent Cemetery to sweep the graves via the Yau Tong High Islander Road (as there are steps in the Wah Wing Path, those who are wheelchair-bound or have limited mobility may choose to go to the Tseung Kwan O Chinese Permanent Cemetery via the Yau Tong High Islander Road).

Aberdeen and Tsuen Wan Chinese Permanent Cemeteries 2025 Ching Ming Festival Traffic Arrangements

In view of the increase in the number of people paying tribute to their ancestors during the Ching Ming Festival, the Aberdeen Chinese Permanent Cemetery and the Tsuen Wan Chinese Permanent Cemetery will implement special traffic arrangements to tie in with the Government's traffic measures, details of which can be found on the special traffic arrangements announced on the Transport Department's website.

Po Fook Shan, Sha Tin|Special Opening Hours and Traffic Measures for Ching Ming Festival 2025


沙田寶福山2025清明節交通安排

Po Fook Shan, Sha Tin, one of the private columbaria, will adjust its opening hours and implement special transportation arrangements during the peak period of Ching Ming Festival in 2025:


Special opening hours during the peak period of Ching Ming Festival: Po Fook Shan, Sha Tin will adjust its opening hours to 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. during the peak period of Ching Ming Festival, i.e. March 22-23, March 29-30, April 4-6, and April 12-13, 2025, so as to facilitate grave sweepers to visit the hill. Crowd control measures such as limiting the number of people entering and exiting Po Fook Shan, queuing and batching of entries to Po Fook Shan may be implemented to cope with the crowds.


Special Traffic Arrangement during the Ching Ming Festival Peak Period: Po Fook Shan, Sha Tin will be closed during the peak period of the Ching Ming Festival, i.e. March 22-23, March 29-30, April 4-6, April 12-13, April 18-21, and April 7, 2025, to accommodate the queue of grave sweepers queuing up for entry into the hill, and all vehicles except emergency vehicles will not be allowed to enter Po Fook Shan. All vehicles, except emergency vehicles, are not allowed to enter the drop-off and pick-up area above Po Fook Shan.

Hong Kong Catholic Cemeteries|Road Closure Arrangements for Ching Ming Festival 2025

The Cheung Sha Wan Catholic Cemetery and Chai Wan Catholic Cemetery, which are managed by the Catholic Diocese of Hong Kong, will be closed on the day of the Ching Ming Festival 2025 and the nearby weekend:


Road Closure Arrangements for Cheung Sha Wan Catholic Cemetery on Ching Ming Festival 2025

During the peak period of Ching Ming Festival 2025, road closure will be implemented at Wing Ming Lane near the Cheung Sha Wan Catholic Cemetery on 29-30 March and 12-13 April; and at Wing Ming Street and Wing Ming Lane near the Cheung Sha Wan Catholic Cemetery on the main day of the Ching Ming Festival (i.e. 4 April) and 5-6 April. During the above dates, from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., all vehicles except hearses are not allowed to enter the road closure area.



Chai Wan Catholic Cemetery 2025 Ching Ming Festival Road Closure Arrangement

eDuring the peak period of Ching Ming Festival 2025, road closure measures will be implemented on 22-23 March, 29-30 March, the main day of Ching Ming Festival (i.e. 4 April), 5-6 April and 12-13 April at Lin Shing Road and Cape Collinson Road near the Chai Wan Catholic Cemetery. During the above dates, from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., all vehicles, except hearses, will be prohibited from entering the road closure areas.
